The Nunnery and Estate
With its rolling lawns, historic buildings and acres of woodland,
The Nunnery mansion house and estate is an ideal venue for film-making...
Built in 1823, The Nunnery is one of the Island’s finest
buildings and is now home to the Isle of Man International Business
School. The architectural style of the mansion is known as “Strawberry-Hill-Gothic”
and was designed by John Pinch who was responsible for much
of Regency Bath.
At least four motion pictures have been filmed on this private
estate in recent years, including: Stiff Upper Lips (1996),
Relative Values (1999), Chromophobia (2004) and Stormbreaker
(2005).
The Nunnery Estate offers several unique features within its
grounds, all in an easily accessed location on Old Castletown
Road in Douglas.
